I have quite a few flashy costume jewelry rings, along the lines of this one by Betsey Johnson:
I love them, but unfortunately they don’t quite match my super-simple platinum engagement ring:
My question is: how would you wear these two rings together, if at all? Would you wear the costume one on your right hand? Either hand? Or do I have to give up flashy gold animal rings once and for all?
(Please leave aside the question of whether you would wear a big fish ring in the first place, lol.)

Yes, anytime, any hand!
You can mix metals. The “no wearing gold and silver/platinum” together is an outdated rule, even What Not To Wear says so!
And your engagement ring is simple/sleek enough it will act as a neutral, it doesn’t clash. If you had a very ornately designed engagement ring, then I’d say wear them on different hands.

I love cocktail rings, and wear them on my right hand frequently.

@abbyful: I agree 100%
And I adore that cocktail ring! I don’t really wear any other rings, but for Betsey Johnson I could break that rule!

That fish ring is sooooo CUTE!!
I wear fun rings on my right hand. Just one at a time, and my ering is happily on my left. Go for it!

I would probably wear them on my right hand–but only because I dont’ want anything competing on my left hand! I agree, mix metals all you want! I don’t personally wear other rings, but that’s because I never wore rings before my engagement ring (with the exception of when I was in high school). Go for it!

Absolutely!! I would wear it on the right hand only because I don’t like being unbalanced and wearing rings on my left and not my right makes me a little crazy LOL. I hated mixing metals when I was married the first time, because my set was yellow gold and NOTHING but yellow gold ‘matches’ it. I eventually decided I didn’t care, and that was that!
