I voted yes but I would suggest checking with the couple if possible. It should be ok but depending on your culture it might not be and I always thinks it’s polite to ask.

Yeah. Some ladies wore a black dress to mine. I didn’t even bat an eye.

I’ve worn black to several weddings.  I didn’t even know this was an issue.

We  invent issues. No one would question a man wearing a black suit.

The last thing a bride needs is every guest checking if their outfit is ok.

It’s hard to go wrong with a Little Black Dress, no matter what the occasion! I say rock it 🙂 I certainly have.

Little black dress is universally appropriate.

I think definitely yes! If anyone tried to side eye you for a modest black dress, they’re the crazy ones!

breatheandrelax :  in most Western cultures black has become the colour of mourning, so amongst more traditional groups may be seen as inappropriate at a wedding. In the UK it is often frowned upon (I have worn black to weddings but my crowd are metallers so it’s less of an issue). It’s also not always appropriate for men to wear black suits to weddings in the UK. It is becoming less frowned upon though and even in Europe cultures vary.

I’ve never attended a wedding where there hasn’t been at least one woman wearing a black dress. It’s a classic colour that’s flattering on everyone, so I can’t see why it would be a problem.

I think it really depends on where you’re from. In the Southern US, it’s generally considered rude to wear black to a wedding. But people also tend to wear more colors in general. In another region, black might not be a big deal. I went to a wedding in NYC a few years ago and half the wedding guests were in black, and no one batted an eye.

I often wear black to a wedding…it seems like the majority of women wear black as it’s a very neutral, yet classy color.  Goes well with any setting.

I think I’ve worn black to most of the weddings I’ve been to. And funnily enough, never to a funeral. Do what you want!
