I will be having an indoor wedding and reception in July. However we are taking our pictures outside for an hour or two before the ceremony. I live in Kansas, and it can get pretty hot in July. Are there any other brides who wore their hair down in the July heat? Did it hold up?
Here is a picture of the hairstyle I want:
and my dress

I think if you love it and are willing to put up with a little discomfort for a couple hours, you should go for it. I was happy to have my hair up on my 100 degree wedding day, but I don’t think it would be a must for everybody.

I’m just worried about the curls going limp from the heat, especially since I am doing pics outside before the ceremony. I just want my hair to look great all the time, but I am really partial to wearing it mostly down (like the first picture), and so is Fiance.

i love your inspiration hairstyle but if you’re going to be worried about the curls falling out, you may want to go with what’s more practical. i sweat a lot so wearing my hair down is out of the question. it’s definitely personal preference though.

I wore my hair similarly to your picture for my July wedding last summer (mostly down and curled with the sides pulled back).
We did most of our pictures outside in addition to the fact that I got my hair done at 9am and the ceremony didn’t start until 4:30pm and the reception went until 11pm and my hair survived just fine in the heat all day!

Hmm…that style would look great for your dress, but I would be really worried about being too hot and the curls becoming limp or sticking to my neck. Is there any way you could do a trial with that style AND with your hair up, so that you have a backup in case it turns out to be too hot?

I’m from TN so I know all about summer heat. Also, I am getting married in July here and we will also be inside for wedding and reception, but outside for pictures (hopefully–weather permitting!).
Does it get super humid? Are you prone to sweating badly? Is your dress really heavy and hot? Does your hair hold curl well?
These are all factors that need to be considered. Although I’m wearing an updo because it will look great with my dress, I LOVE that hairstyle and would personally go for it if I had your dress, but I don’t sweat much, love the heat here, and my hair loves to curl. If you do it make sure you have some hairspray on the scene and a big bottle of icewater at the ready for the entire photo session.

I’m having an outdoor wedding in May, and I will be wearing my hair up even though I prefer it down! It doesn’t hold curl well & looks awful once I get hot.
I think it is like PP have said, if your hair doesn’t hold curl well, you might want to have a backup or consider something else!
From the picture, I think your hair would look great up too, but the inspiration hair IS very pretty!

My hair really does hold curls well. I will be getting my hair done around 9:30, pictures around noon-2, ceremony at 3, reception to follow. I could bring a curling iron to do some touch ups before the ceremony if needed.
