Those comments about clusters and moissy being fake are ridiculous and really irritate me. Anyone who would say such a thing to you is a clod and not worthy of your consideration. Get what you think looks good because jewelry ought to please the wearer most of all. Anyone else’s opinion is superfluous.

I think anything can be desirable or considered an “upgrade” if it’s new to you and bringing you joy and pleasure, and also works for your lifestyle and budget. And I don’t think there is anything wrong with honoring our specific preferences or “quirks” in our style. In fact, the confidence to go with what works for you and celebrate it is what style truly is.
There are some really interesting books and studies about marketing and psychology and we are all being influenced almost all the time. However, wearing your wealth isn’t necessarily the mark of a well to do person, no matter how many times we are given pats or accolades for buying this bag or wearing that “luxury” designer.
I think you could go with the moissanite or the cluster and if you love it and feel good about it, then it is an upgrade, no matter how much it cost or what other people might think.
