Technically you could, but I wouldn’t….unless they were super nice somehow.  As a wedding guest I’m not sure I would understand that the fan was the favor and then I’d wonder why you didn’t have one.

I agree that since the ceremony is separate from the reception that since there would be no way to distinguish it as a favor since it is technically “the program.”  Maybe do the fans and than make a donation to a charity and place a sign somewhere denoting this so you don’t necessarily have to do another 100 things.

I don’t think that most people would care, or hardly notice if you didn’t have a favor. (so, the fans would be fine, if that’s what you wanted to do. I do admit that I haven’t seen something like it, so I can’t quite picture what you’re describing.)

Favors is the 1st thing generally cut out of the “to do” list. Most guests don’t take them, trash them, or just eat them and don’t really think about them again. So don’t stress about favors, if you don’t want to or can’t do them.

If you used your program as a “favor” I would make it something a little nicer or more personal than a fan.

We made really personal prgrams with e*pics of us in them and pictures of the bridal party and such.

They were nice =)

I wouldn’t. They’re nice for the guests to be able to use when they’re at the wedding, but people probably wouldn’t use them after.

uhhh, I wouldn’t.  What are they going to do with them afterwards?
