Hey bees!
So, my parents are graciously paying for the rehearsal dinner since my fiance’s family can’t/won’t contribute anything to the wedding. I am very, very, very grateful for my parents for picking up the slack on this and I don’t want to make this any harder for them then it needs to be (since they are paying for half of the wedding, too). With that said, I want to keep the rehearsal very small. Only the wedding party, close family, and grandparents.
Is it okay if we choose one of the groomsman/bridesmaids to do the reading at the ceremony? Does it have to be someone outside of the wedding party?
Thank you in advance!

I’m not up on the etiquette for that, but it seems that that shouldn’t be a problem!

We had three readers, and one of them was one of my BMs. We just thought she’d do the best job. Not sure what it has to do with the rehearsal dinner though!

Yes, I think that’s absolutely fine – I was Maid/Matron of Honor at my friend’s wedding, and I did one of her readings.

@mountain.bride: I think she was meaning that she doesn’t want an extra mouth to feed…she wants someone to read who will already be at the Rehearsal Dinner

@mountain.bride: Yup, that is exactly what I meant. I want the reader to be in the wedding party so I don’t have to invite an additional person the the rehearsal dinner. Gotta keep things small so I don’t put my poor parents in the poor house 🙂
