@mskalinin – So. True. I’m a tiny tiny human, and it can be really frustrating when I shop at stores like Express, etc. Their size 0 is too large for me a lot of times. So, I wear a lot of dresses (pants make me crazy), otherwise I’d have to shop in the kids section sometimes.

I agree with everyone else mostly in that it really depends on the designer to determine what size you’ll be. My dress is a size 2, which was the smallest size my designer made…and we have to take it in everywhere (grrr) because it is still too big. Frustration!

I ranged from a size 8 to a size 12 in 99% of the dresses that I tired on, but I ended up ordering a size 6 b/c the one I bought had a size 6 sample that fit like a glove. And it was a mermaid gown! Ridiculous!

I am a street size 8-10, and my gown is a size 14 by Mori Lee.

@Msbuttons and @mskalinin…I have argued this exact point with my friends for years! they never really believed me but I so believe that designers have done this.  When I was in highschool I was a size 5/6 which would have been around a 4 in womens clothing…I remember even freshman year in college a group of friends were playing around in (I think the Gap) or something like it and everyone thought I was super skinny and had me try on the size 0 pants and it couldn’t even fit up one leg…Years (and several added pounds later) I can barely fit a size 0 because i’m “too small” yeah right…how about the size 6 womens skirt that my aunt gave me 10 years prior still fits…so why is this new pair of size 0 jeans i’m about to buy too big for me…Undecided

I found david’s bridal dresses run a little bigger than the size that is on the tag.  My dress is the size I would normally wear in a regular dress but I’m having to get it taken in to fit me.  They might run like a size bigger than what the tag actually says.

My dress is from Kleinfeld’s in Toronto. Hopefully I can put some reassurance in some brides who aren’t sure about the size but heres an idea:

I measure at Bust: 34, Waist: 27 and Hips 37. I’m 5’6 and 125lbs. I plan on loosing about 5lbs for the wedding which would put me at 5’6 120lbs. My dress size is officially a size 8 (with a 26 inch waist) but when I shop at places like Ardenes or Aritzia I’m a size 3 or size 4.

I asked about the sizing and my dress lady said that wedding dresses fit smaller which makes sense because there are really tiny people in the world! Never take it personally. The difference is about 4 sizes officially so a Size 8 person is really a size 12 in wedding dresses or a Size 2 person is probably closer to a size 6 etc. Hope this helps ladies!

I think this applies more to the US sizing. I think your “street sizing” over there is different. Im in Germany and I am a street size that corresponds to your 12 and fit absolutely perfectly with no need for alterations in a Maggie Sottero size 12…
