I think it’s pretty normal for your fundal measurement to be off by a bit – some people have bigger or smaller babies, sometimes there’s a growth spurt, etc. If your doctor isn’t worried, don’t worry. And yes, dating ultrasounds are more accurate than fundal height measurements.

Pappy8:  fundal height has a +/- 2 week window of accuracy. My docs never changed my due date after the initial dating scan. It’s just an estimate anywas an nothing to worry about. My EDD was March 5 based on first scan. should hve been a few days earlier based on conception. Dirty Delete came 2 weeks early. pretty much my entire pregnancy I measured 3-4 weeks behind with fundal height. My doc was never concerned and always said it was on the low end of normal. I had a healthy, almost 7 lb baby at 38+1 ( at my appt the day before I had her I was measuring 35 weeks.)

MrsWBS:  +1

Except my docs did a +/-1 week window of accuracy. They never changed my initial date of April 11. I delivered on March 31, so I was a little early (and delivered a 6lb 13oz boy instead of a 7 or 8 pound boy like the doctor guessed).

Pappy8:  Ultrasounds while incredibly helpful can’t always be 100% just by the fact that we don’t really know when we conceived.  My dating from my LMP said I was 6-7 weeks when I first found out I was pregnant.  But I was really only about 5 weeks from my dating ultrasound.  We got several due dates, but little miss arrived when she was good and ready.

Pappy8:  I always thought measuring my stomach with a little tape measure seemed unscientific!

Yeah the fundal height can be very inaccurate. The early dating ultrasounds are more accurate for sure.

My baby measures a week ahead, but I know for sure when I ovulated and had earlier dating ultrasounds which matched up with ovulation. Babies just grow at different rates, nothing to be worried about. My Darling Husband and I are also 6’+ tall, so we expect a big boy!
