Can someone help me figure out how high the setting on my custom ring will be?

Oh dear lord that is high. Is that what you wanted?

It looks as though it will be around 10mm high. Maybe they can reduce the space between the stone and the setting to make it lower?

That is really super duper crazy high! I like mine low, so I’d bring it down quite a bit.

legallyblondebarbie :  I dont think it will look silly at all, I love the look of high settings! I’m seriously clumsy so husband picked out a low setting for me.

10mm is pretty high, but not crazy if the diamond is big, but this looks too high proportionate to the diamond size. What are the dimensions of the diamond?

That is way too high. IMO the diamond should fit in the setting perfect (rounds are already quite high stones). there is a pretty big gap between where the diamond ends and where the setting ends. i would definitely try and have the diamond and setting more flush. My ring is this way and sits plenty high (enough for a big eternity band to sit flush)

legallyblondebarbie :  If it faces up larger that means its not cut deep, the stone is shallow,  so there will be a big space between the setting and the diamond like you see in some of the pics jellynbelly posted. Things (lotion, soap, lint) will get stuck in there so you’ll have to be diligent about using a toothbrush to clean it.

I think it’s just personal preference, from the top it will look great and let a lot of light in and appear larger to your eye. For me PERSONALLY, I would not like it that high from the side. I personally would think it looked way out of proportion and it would be too high compared to the diamond size. My diamond is 5.5mm high and my setting is 6.7mm high and visually looks like there’s no space. Thats just a personal preference for me, doesnt make it right! You’re the one wearing it so it only matters if you love it!

Honestly a ring that high is going to get bumped from side to side on your finger a lot. It will also catch on sweaters, gloves etc. I would find that annoying but everyone has a different take on what they desire in a ring. If a high setting turns your crank and makes you happy then go for it.
