They sell regular leggings as well but they are often see through. I prefer ponte pants since they are thick and look more like “real pants” but still comfortable like leggings. I do wear athletic leggings as casual wear as well with t-shirts, hoodies etc.

I have a few pairs of yoga leggings from Victoria’s Secret that I wear under tunic length tops or shorter dresses as everyday outfits. As long as my ass is covered, I’m good to go.

I know crazy patterns are becoming a trend (at least where I am) but I just cannot seem to pair any crazy pattern wel with any of my clothing. I like simpler darker colors.

One word: LuLaRoe. It’s taken the not-so-fashion world by storm, and once people try them, they’re hooked. I always wear mine under a long shirt, however.

there are kind of two “around town” ways to do leggings.

1st is what’s called “athlesure”.. you look like you’re headed to the gym to do some yoga.. but they you just wanted a Frappuccino.

for this one, you buy actual gym clothes

2nd.. you wear them in place of pants. looks best with longer shirts, typically, but there are plenty of options. these you buy in a fashion oriented store.

I get the thicker, matte-looking full-length black Lulu leggings and wear them with loose-fitting tops that cover my ass (this is key when you’re wearing leggings places other than the gym). I don’t like wearing cropped leggings, detailed leggings, or ones made out of special breathable fabric when I’m not working out — those are too obviously workout wear.

J. Crew makes leggings that are unambiguously not workout wear, I have a few pairs of those as well. The Lulu ones tend to hold up a lot better, though.

peegee :  Yes to ponte pants!

I have an entire drawer of Pixie pants from J.Crew. I work in a super casual office, so I wear them pretty much everyday. Usually with a sweater or sweater/blouse combo thing, kinda like:

They also look adorable in the Fall/Winter with boots 🙂

I actually prefer to wear athletic leggings as pants because a) less sheer and b) the compression of an athletic tight cuts down on the little jiggles.

A pp mentioned them already so I will second that I love my lululemon wonderunders and wear them as pants all the time. I have another pair from old Navy that are actually quite nice, especially for the price.

I avoid anything shiny or patterned as it looks too much like gym wear and I also do a squat test in front of the mirror to make sure that they aren’t sheer on the butt, just in case.

I wear cotton cuz of breathability.  I used to get them from Reitmans, need to find a new place!  I did get some cropped ones from Ardene (had to search carefully for the cotton ones).  They don’t wear as nicely as they stretch and then bag a bit but they aren’t sheer.  Good enough for gardening and running a few errands.

I wear nike or glyder leggings as pants all the time, working out or shopping. I also have some fleece lined leggings for winter.. I also third lularoe, although I don’t like the prints, they are seriously soooo soft and comfy. I took a nap in them.

I like the VS ones, and the Lularoe ones too.  I always either a dress or long shirt/tunic with them.

I don’t wear my gym leggings as everyday pants, but I do have other leggings that I wear as a part of a more casual outfit. I have found that some brands are thinner than others, so I definitely try them on before buying to make sure that they’re not see-through. Like other Bee’s, I also stick with black over bright colours and patterns. I wear them to work when the weather is cooler underneath dresses and skirts (they’re warmer than tights/pantyhose). If I wear them outside of work, I’ll wear them with a long top or more casual dress – if my butt is covered I’m good to go lol.

BostonStacy :  love leggings. Im enjoying wearing them with boots at the moment. (Winter in Australia) I love the stretchiness around the middle. I bought a pair of black ones with a black snake skin print on them….so in love with them! I always dress my leggings up.

I don’t do sport leggings unless I’m at the gym. The trick to a good legging is buying quality. Cheap ones pile and bag at the knee or role down your hips. They can also be see through. I buy lysee leggings as they have slimming features built-in. They are amazing and create thigh gap haha
