I’m thinking of getting https://luvbridal.com.au/product/skye/#&gid=1&pid=1 , but I’m only 5’1″ so the dress was way longer than I am. The skirt has lace details down the front and sides, as well as on the hem.
It would be perfect if it could be shortened, but can the shortening be done while allowing it to still have lace details on the top AND bottom of the skirt? I did email my seamstress, but the dress is on offer now and I’m afraid she might not answer in time.

Sorry, but I find it impossible to tell what the skirt and hem etc is like from that website’s pics. TBH all I can really see is that the bodice looks like a bra is showing through .
Sorry, not helpful I know – is there a better pic somewhere ?

It should be possible to cut the lace off, cut it to the right length, then sew the lace back on. Might be expensive though.

I really can’t tell what the dress looks like. But all dresses with lace hems are hemmed with the process sensoda described. It shouldn’t be anything new or different for seamstresses who are familiar with bridal alterations.

Is this the dress?
If so I don’t see any reason why it couldn’t be altered as PP’s said.

Thank you, all! Yes that’s the dress. I’ve had a couple of seamstresses tell me it’s totally fine since they can reattach the lace later. So fingers crossed it’ll all work out! 🙂

They’ll just pick off the lace at the bottom and reattach after shortening the hem. It might cost you more though because of the extra work, so do get a quote before you decide.
