I found this fantastic Casablanca 1947 dress on Recycledbride close enough to my house to try it on and at a price that is definitely doable for my budget. Look how pretty it is!!!!
However, I don’t think it’s been altered, and it needs WORK in the… bust… area. Apparently I’m a lot less gifted than the “average” street size 2.
See how SAGGY it is below the boobs? I thought it was the fact that the dress was too large in that area, but when I pulled the zipper part back, It was still kind of saggy. (that’s the third picture)
Any of you have experience with alterations, or particularly with this dress? Can this be fixed? I want to look HOT on my wedding day, haha
Help me! I’m so inexperienced in the wedding world that I don’t even know who to ask!

I don’t think its your boobs, I think you are just thin and your rib cage doesn’t fill out that area. At least that is how it looks to me from these pics. nd it can definitlely be altered if that is the case. You look stunning in this dress. Nice find!

I think it looks absolutely gorgeous on you! There’s nothing that I can see that would make alterations particularly difficult. I say go for it.

that can definitely be altered!

Once it is pinned correctly the seamstress will try different ways to see is the wrinkling will go away. I usually pin on the side seam.

Do you think boning might help (or would it look funny with the lines of the dress)? Has anyone had experience with getting boning put in?

Absolutely it can be altered. One thing you might consider is sewing cups right into the dress. (I did this.) That way you won’t have to wear a bra and it will help fill out the dress, too. But even if you don’t want to do that, a good seamstress can make this dress fit you perfectly.

Beautiful! Great find!! I don’t think you will have trouble getting it altered.

Alterations shouldn’t be too costly or difficult. The dress is simple with staright seams. I think getting cups inserted is a great idea. I t would help the top to fit better.
