We bought this dress for my daughter.it will not zip all the way up her back .the illusion bodice top part of the dress is a little loose but the waist is (gathered belted part ) is preventing the dress from zipping and doesn’t have enough fabric to let out .the girl who owned before had small waist but bigger top .my daughter has somewhat of broad middle back.is there a way to convert to someone of lace up to make it fit but also keep the illusion part also or is it impossible.i was thinking maybe a clear type corset style ribbon or string. Please help.

Idk but I wouldn’t think there is much you can do with the flimsy fabric of that bodice. It appears to be completely see-through, so anything you did would show . (As would a bra.) I think a corset back is for a different sort of fabric.
ETA I see you say the illusion part fits but if you cant zip past the waist , are you sure of that?

I think altering it would be a lot of work because you’d have to change the whole waistline and top of skirt.

I would scrap the dress and look for something that fits, TBH.

I think you can completely remove the waistband and rework it since the waistband looks like it has several layers of fabric. This depends on the skill of the tailor. However, I would just get a new dress and suck up the $35 you paid for this one, as anything a tailor will do will probably cost more than it is worth. Whenever you buy a dress that can’t be tried on, ask for all of the measurements – bust, waist, length from shoulder to waistband, and length of skirt.

I don’t think it’s worth it; alterations would probably cost more than the dress itself.
