HI BEES! this is my very first post…I am not yet engaged, but we have a set date with our jeweler who will custom make my ring. The ring above is my grandmothers, and is she doesn’t know any of the specs…i am resetting it in a white gold solitaire setting. i am becoming increasingly interested in diamonds and the nitty gritties. I was wondering if any of you bees could estimate the carat size of the primary center diamond???? It’s not a big deal, but I would like to know! Oh yea and I’m a size 7, if that helps!
thanks in advance all!

@mfkaros: I think it is probably around 1-1.5 carats.
ETA: Add a poll!

I’m gonna guess the center stone is 1 carat.

@mfkaros: somewhere around a carat… But the real reason I am responding is just to say I wish you wouldn’t reset it! That setting is so beautiful and unique!either way it’s lovely, congrats 🙂

i would say just under 1.2 – I have one that is very similar in size and it’s 1.18 🙂

Thank you all! I will find out in about a week or so!!! So excited..I appreciate everyone’s guesses! 🙂

i’d guess at least 1.25. my finger is a little smaller than a 7 and my center stone is .5 and that stone in your pics looks more than twice the size of my center stone.

I think it’s between 1 and 1.5, but I believe it’s closer to 1.5 than it is to 1, so I voted for 1.5. Mine is 1.21, and it looks larger than mine.

@mfkaros: 3/4 carat.
I am practically sobbing that you are not going to use that setting. Sigh.
Well, it’s ok. just send it to me 🙂

Around a carat, give or take a little

To the ones who think I’m crazy for ditching the setting: actually my grandmother is keeping her setting..and we are taking the center diamond and filling in her band with small diamond chips (what she wanted)..so we are both going to get something special made!
