@StuporDuck:  Thank you!  What kind of ring did you end up with?

I am going to get a hammered rose gold band for my wedding ring, and then wear the engagement ring on my right hand/for special occasions.  I considered having a wedding band custom-made to match the e-ring, but I love the way it looks on its own more than anything I tried out to match it.

@MissPirouette:  This is what I wound up with, DH really loved it:

Not quite the emerald cut I hoped for, but he thought it was close. ๐Ÿ™‚

@StuporDuck:  Even though it’s not what you envisioned, it’s gorgeous!  I love all the little details, it looks different from every angle.

@kansas_nurse:  I love marquise! So different and something you don’t see everyday which I LOVE! I’m actually going to re-set my ring in yellow gold! Tell her not to worry and be proud of that baby! Look how stunning it will look!

Good on her for choosing something a little different. The fact that everyone else doesn’t have one just emphasises how special her choice is!

I certainly had some salespeople talk down marquise cuts to me. Needless to say, we did not purchase at those shops. We women are not all the same, people!

I love marquise cut rings.  I looked so hard for one, but could never find one in our price range.

@kansas_nurse:  I worked in retail for a long time and I’d never presume to tell a customer what to do unles they asked for advice. It amazes me that they think customers appreciate that kind of input. Imagine what they had to say when I also said I wanted it in aquamarine! A few weeks after getting engaged I saw some marquise halos in a catalogue and was amazed. I understand they’re probabaly not a best seller but it’s nice to see some options. I was the same. I was tossing up between an oval or marquise cut. Spent all day shopping to find a marquise just to try on to see how I felt about it. I just wasn’t sure if it would be “me”. I finally found one that was not my cup of tea in so many other ways, but still a marquise. Tried it on and never thought about an oval again. I agree you have to shop around to see some of the nicer marquise shapes and if you can find a manufacturing jeweller that will order some in for you to look at, even better. It sounds like you and your friend have a great relationship. Enjoy shopping together!
