@MissChelly:  Wow, nothing as crazy as that.

Our old neighbors were really nice people it’s just that their dogs barked non-stop for about 18 hours a day. Every time they heard a noise it was, “Bark, bark, bark, bark, bark.” It was so loud that you can hear it from the bedrooms which were on the other side of the duplex. We never said anything because they were just so nice.

We have a puppy now and he doesn’t bark even 1/20th as much as those dogs.

Our neighbors are all really nice…but the ones right next door have the weirdest backyard.  We can’t tell what’s going on exactly, we’re on the downslope.  But it appears their backyard is a giant pirate ship.  And when they’re out there they hover like 2 feet over the fence, from our side the fence is probably 10ft.  So in the summer when I come in through the back they see me before I see them and they say hi and it totally weirds me out!

Ours are nice to us, and we’ve even gotten used to the small dog that barks everytime something moves.  What I will never get used to is the random people coming in and out of their house at all hours, or when the cops surround the house with their guns drawn.  Now, we live in a safe neighborhood, but we happen to live in the house directly next to that one sketchy house on the block.  Go figure.

@MissChelly:  wow i think you win.

my neighbors (we share a wall) are awful.  They late teens/early 20s.  The grandmother moved out and didnt want to sell so her grandson lives there with his girlfriend and a few friends (maybe).  Well the grandson does nothing but get high all day.  I come home from work at 230 in the afternoon and my house smells like a skunk.  Seriously, can you crack a window and if not buy the good stuff? geez.  Then they get in fights at all hours of the night slamming doors/screeaming both inside and out.  They dont work.  They’re just blobs.  The grandmother brings her grandson groceries a couple times a week and then the kids dad will mow the lawn and upkeep the house.

My neighbor on the other side who is a nice retired old lady said in the summer they’re 100 times worse.  Oh yay.

Yeah our neighbors fail at taking care of their yard. They have these MASSIVE trees and these branches are constantly falling down. Which they proceed to ignore. There are giant tree limbs all over their front yard and in the street. I parked out front overnight and one of their stupid tree limbs ending up falling onto my car, smashing into the passenger side. Dents, major paint scratching/damage and a cracked window. They completely denied it and said it wasn’t their limb even though there are tree limbs ALL OVER THEIR YARD. Ended up costing $3K to fix, though luckily insurance covered most of it. We don’t like these people. And we now have one of our security cameras pointed at the spot where my husband parks so we can have proof if it ever happens again.

Although we keep harassing property code services in our city, and they’ve come out multiple times. So there’s that. I’m sure they love us just as much as we love them. :p

@MissChelly:  Ugh, we had the worst neighbors in our apartment complex (we just purchased a home this summer).  They were loud, drunk, slobs that smoked like chimneys and I am pretty sure there were about 6 people living in that 2 bedroom apt.  We could tolerate it, knowing we would be moving soon, but still it was horrible.

We had to put up with them for about 3 months, and at first it wasn’t so bad (only 2 people in the apt at this time), but noticed tons of food everywhere.  I mean it looked like someone was just litering everywhere (pretzels, crackers, candy bars, etc) with half opened/half eaten items.  Then we had to call the cops because they were in the street arguing at 4am on a Tues night.  Oh and we got to witness them getting kicked out of the community pool for bringing, and breaking, beer bottles.  Peoples’ kids play/swim there, how is that ok?!?!?!?!

The last straw was when I saw roaches by their apt (we lived in the apt above).  This was a day or two before our closing date, and about a week before our move date.  I FREAKED OUT!!!  I immediately started packing our things and contacted the moving company for them to store/move our items ASAP.  Thankfully, none of those bugs got into our apt or things (I became a don’t-leave-out-food nazi).  Soon after we moved they had to fumigate that entire building.

Your neighbors sound awful (and super trashy), hopefully the next time you move it will be better.  We love our neighbors now, but we definitely appreciate good neighbors more now.

Ugh, that’s awful.

I moved away from a horrible neighbor less than a year ago. My sister and I lived in a townhouse and our landlord lived right across from us. A few months into our lease her unstable, drug addicted, always drunk, abusive, no good son moved back to town from Seattle in the attached townhome with his timid wife. Everything went to hell. My sister and I are quiet people and one time when my sister got home late around 3 am she let the screen door shut and it was kinda loud. This dude starts screaming crap out his window about how we need to shut the f*ck up ,and went on for 2 minutes. The next night he bangs on our front door and wakes us both up. When we answered it his coked-out self starts yelling at us about how it feels to be woken up and that he has a gun and if he starts hearing things like that he’s going to think someone is breaking in and will shoot someone. WTF? We shut the door in his face.

Of course his mom didn’t do crap about it, saying we all need to just get along and live peacefully. Ugh. A week later I get home and my satellite isn’t working. Our satellite was attached to his side of the house where his mom said we could put it before he moved in. I walk over and he’s outside doing landsaping stuff and I asked if the satellite was being blocked, he said WITH A SMILE “I cut the cables.” I called the cops and had someone come over. The cop told me he knew my neighbor from high school and he’s a jerk and didn’t know he was back. Told us to document everything so we did. It got to the point that I was so scared of driving up to my own place because he was always outside and I felt threatened. I told our landlord that I by NO CIRCUMSTANCES wanted him on our part of the property. He wasn’t allowed to cut our grass or maintain our landscaping, she could do it, or hire someone.

Things only got worse (like accusing our friends of being on his trashcans) and I was having anxiety attacks all the time. I moved out after 6 months but my sister stayed with her boyfriend to finish out the year lease which got really messy. But in the end our landlord knew she had no case because her son was a menacing stalker and I had the proof.

I’m sorry you have to deal with that crap, it’s not fair to you. By the time my sister left the place though she didn’t do any real cleaning and just left all of the trash in the designated area. On her last trip from the townhome our neighbor walked over to her and said “Trash day isn’t for another 3 days.” and she said, “well it looks like you’ll be busy then.” bahahaha

@MissChelly:  Your neighbors are pretty bad. Ours simply hate us bc the house was a foreclosure and they loved the people that lived there. The parents do no parenting whatsoever. The kids throw trash over the fence into our backyard at our dogs (one time they threw a rusted skillet at them).  We refer to one of the kids as ” beatstick” bc he just walks around beating EVERYTHING with a stick. They also stole a christmas card my grandfather sent and threw the empty envelope back in our yard. There was no money or anything, they just stole the card.

@MissChelly:  Your neighbors suck! And so do mine. I live in a quiet family neighborhood, but there’s a tri-plex across the street that his been attracting riff raff ever since it changed ownership. There’s a young couple that live there with their adorable toddler and they are ALWAYS arguing. At one point the police were across the street with them at least twice a week. Once on the way to work the girl stopped to ask if she could use my cell phone so she could call the cops because she was tired of him and supposedly he “hit her again.” Now I’m not brushing off domestic violence BUT if it’s happening GTFO and don’t just sit around waiting for the next incident. Ugh. And move out of our peaceful neighborhood with that foolishness!

I live in an apartment building with paper thin walls. My downstairs neighbor calls the cops at every bump in the night. My husband’s in the military, so whenever he visits me, the cops always show up at our place a lot because we’re… having sex? I had no idea engaging in such activities warranted a visit from the police! If my prudish downstairs neighbor has such an enormous problem with it, he can go out and buy me a less rickety bed, lol. He even came up one morning to complain that he heard us at 2am. I just gave him a blank stare until he went away because he’s ridiculous. Its not like my husband and I are playing loud music or yelling a lot.

My next door neighbor was always inviting her boyfriend over and they’re either having sex loudly or arguing. It’s more entertaining than annoying though.

@misspeanut:  Omg the landlord of the apartment across the street also has an issue with a gigantic tree. Everyone kept telling her to get it taken down because it’s clearly dead, and she even got notice from our township to get it taken down ASAP. This was 8 months ago. Well right around Christmas the stupid thing cracked in half and landed on top of my car! It’s about $3,000 worth of damage as well and the landlord was supposed to be paying it. Well of course that shady POS lady hasn’t done or said a doggone thing so it will likely have to go to court. This has been dragging out for 3 months now and still no car. UGH

my neighbors are ok, except for how they park.

We live in a condo and most of the people who live there park on the street and it is all parallel parking. What time you get home from work determines what kind of space you get, the earlier the better. Our neighbors constantly take up two spaces. The one that gets home first parks over the line so they are taking two spaces and then hours later when the other one gets home, they moe their car either forwards or backwardss giving the other space to the other person.

I dont think this is acceptable or fair.

Our neighbors right next door make me really mad. There’s one old lady who always gives me the evil eye. Her family wanted to buy our house when my great uncle died, but we wanted to keep the property in the family.. and that made them mad.

The worst thing she’s done is caused a huge fire! I’m sitting in our living room one day, and I happen to glance over at the picture window and I just see flames. I jump up and she’s burning this massive pile of sticks.. it’s so tall that it caught the tree above on fire. So whatever, I don’t care if she ruins her own tree… but it was a dry windy day, and soon the fire spreads across all the dead leaves in their lawn, over to our heavily WOODED property. Our whole front yard is just woods.. no lawn. The ground is all leaves and brush. She caught it on fire! I had to call the fire department (which made her mad) and it took them hours to put it out, It was smoldering underneath all the leaves and they had to go through turning them all over and spraying everything with water. And she killed the big oak tree she caught on fire too. There’s still scorch marks all over the ground, months later.
