Ok everyone – does it hurt?! I have never done it, but I am really considering getting it all waxed down there. Everyone keeps warning me it is awful! I feel like it would be worth it..

@bhs133: Not going to lie, it hurts but I feel like it’s worth it.  Take some advil 30 mins before going.  Also, once you chose a place, see if they sell a numbing agent (makes a HUGE difference) and ask about an after-care product.  I use PFB numb-IT for before and PFB Vanish for after.

Some waxing tips:

  • Hair should be at least 1/4 inch long
  • YES the hair can be too long.  If it’s too long, it may need to trimmed, otherwise it will be more painful, and won’t come away in one pull
  • Bumps…exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate!  Exfoliate before getting waxed if you can, and exfoliate after (24 hours).  This will help not only eliminate bumps, but ingrown hairs.  Tend skin and PFB Vanish are also awesome for ingrowns and bumpies

@becca.boo137: Larissa at Painless Waxing on Beverly is awesome.  I actually just got waxed today, (this is a very timely post).  She’s super gentle and thourough.  no bumps or hairs afterwards and it’s as painless as can be.  Seriously not that bad at all.  I carried on an entire conversation with her without stopping once because I barely felt anything.

i’ve been getting Brazilian waxes for over a year now, and i always feel smooth after.

The longer your hair, the worse, honestly. You should grow the hair out for about three weeks or about 1/2 inch.

Also, when getting waxed you should look for a waxer who uses hard wax or one that only attaches to the hair, not the skin. This really helps decrease the pain and gets the hair out better. If you have a European Wax Center in your area, check it out, yelp the place, some have amazing wax ladies, while others aren’t so great, but if you yelp, it helps.

The longer you stay with waxing, without shaving in-between, the easier waxing gets and the longer it takes for your hair to grow back and once it does it’s thiner.

hope this helps 🙂
