@SouthernLawBride:  Hey fellow Atlantan! Which neighborhood are you in? That sounds like what I’m looking for.

Yes, that is around the price of my house and I consider it to be very nice.  Good neighborhood, good schools. I bought it 2.5 years ago when it was onl 5 years old.  I am in NC about an hour from Raleigh.

Yes.  When we eventually do look at purchasing a home, it will be in the $90-$130K range.

125K would barely cover the down payment on a decent home where i live. =(

haha. You could get a downpayment on a small 2 bedroom condo for that where I live. I was looking last night and we will have to pay $900ish for a 3-4 bedroom townhouse. We are in a safe suburbish area (Arlington, VA) and have some of the best schools in the country. We are hoping to buy in our neighborhood…someday.

@moonadea:  Hi neighbor! We managed to get a great deal in Inman Park. Fabulous restaurants and only a 10 minute drive (or Marta ride) to work.

Not a chance..unless I want to live in like Camden. Trenton or Newark…I’m in NJ notoriously known for high house prices and the highest property taxes in the country..

The average home price in Minneapolis is about $225k.

We sold a townhouse last year (2 bed, 1.5 bath) for $130k.

I think $125k may get you something that’s really run-down, rather small and in a very very bad neighborhood, but I think it could be done…..

I wish…Fiance would easily be able to put 20%+ down. We live in the Tristate Area (NYC/NJ/CT)…If you want a decent single family home with 3 bedrooms you are looking at at least $325K

Here is what 125k can get you in middle Tennessee:

3BR

2BA

1900 sq ft

The school district for this home is OK, not the best in the area… but by no means bad. The lot size is .31 acres, city taxes are around $1,500 ( estimated). This house is currently under contract, just found it off of a quick Google search from a local realtors website. Not too bad! We live in a pretty reasonable area, though.
