Hi ladies – has anyone has experience with calling around bridal stores in order to search for samples they might be selling? My store doesn’t have the dress I wanted, and I thought to call others to see if they might carry it in a sample, but do you think they’d not like that because they’d want to order it and charge me full price?
If this is a silly idea of mine, does anyone know the best time of the year to buy samples? Thanks so much! xx

I would just call and ask when they are having a sample sale. The only problem with that though, its the dress might be pretty beat up or stained. So it might cost you a bit to clean and alter it.

None of the stores I visited had any issues with selling a sample gown. You could just call and ask if they have it in a certain size in stock to try on if you don’t want to flat out ask to buy a sample.

Honestly, I would rather buy a preowned wedding dress than a sample dress. Most of the sample dresses I looked at were in pretty poor condition and not discounted that much. Pre-owned dresses have only been worn once and usually about 50% from retail.

I would call around and see who has the dress your looking for and in what size. I wouldn’t tell them off the bat that you are looking to buy the sample. You want to receive excellent customer service so go in as usual and try it on. If it’s in good condition and the size doesn’t need to be altered anything crazy then tell the bridal consultant that you absolutely love the dress but are on a budget … ask if it is possible to purchase the sample gown and if so how much. I’m sure they’d be willing to work with you. Good luck!

Thanks so much for your advice! Unfortunately the only maggie store close to me doesn’t have the dress in a size that would fit, but I’ll definitely try secondhand and see if it comes up! Thanks again! xx
