Hm, I have not heard of this because you will be cooking the sausage thoroughly since it is raw. I am interested to see if anyone else heard this as well!

Never heard of this one! I googled it and looks to be linked to an excessive intake of retinol? I think you’re fine unless you decide to have Oktoberfest in your home for every meal 🙂

Have never heard of this either. Haha Lemon, that cracks me up! 🙂 I think you should be fine if you cook it good.

I can’t eat that stuff and I’m not preggos. (Too greasy for me!)

It’s fine as long as you cook it thoroughly.  🙂

Hi-I work in public health on maternal/child health and I don’t think that’s true. Lunch meats, yes, you want to avoid because of the risk of listeriosis (which is one of the few bugs capable of beating your own excellent defenses around your baby and getting to it), but if you cook sausage thoroughly and make sure you thoroughly wash/disinfect surfaces that come into contact with the raw sausage I don’t see what the problem would be.

But when in doubt, ask your doctor!

My Mum’s a Doula, she’s also a foster mum, has had six kids and is 100% Italian and I can say I’ve NEVER heard of that. Her parents owned an Italian restarant and I’d be willing to wager that LOTS of Italian sausage was consumed in my family while all my relatives were preggers with various relatives. I can’t think of an ingrediant that would be dangerous? I donn’t really enjoy it because I hate fennel but other than that cook everything you eat while you’re pregnant thoroughly. Ask your doc for sure and get back to us, that’s a new one for sure!
