So, my boobs fit B cups. HOWEVER, my band size is really big (it’s a 48 – because i’m 6′ tall, and also I’m overweight).
So when I buy bras that fit my size, the cups are HUGE! My boobs SWIM in them! The cups wrinkle and I can pretty much fit my fist in the top of the cup; that’s how much extra room there is! (I guess most of the volume of my boob is toward the bottom, I don’t have equal volume throughout.)
I was told that even though it says it’s a B-cup, that cup sizes get bigger as the band sizes get bigger… so I was thinking about buying a smaller banded bra, (like a 40, or a 42) and buying bra-extender hooks, and having a tailor sew them on for me. This way, the cups will be smaller, but they’ll still fit. Is this a good idea?
I should also mention that, yes, I’ve been measured before. All of the bras in my size are usually full-coverage, and very ugly. The full coverage cups are wayyyy too big for my breasts (again, i don’t have a lot of top-volume on my boobs)
This is the only solution I could think of :

As far as I know tailors will customize bras for you, though I’ve only seen this done in reverse where a woman is large breasted with a small band size. You find a bra with cups that fit and then have the tailor adjust the band down. As long as you don’t mid a few seams or whatever, I see no reason why they couldn’t adjust the band up.

Yep! The first time I heard of this was at Intimacy Bra Fit Stylists, I see they have a location in Chicago: http://myintimacy.com/
When you make an appointment there, they’ll show you a huge variety of bras, all matched to fit your cup size. If the band fits, great. If not, they’ll measure and send it off to be altered for free, and it’ll be back in a week, fitting you great!
The bras are pretty expensive, but I recommend making an appointment there just so you can see what beautiful styles can fit you that you haven’t tried before. And maybe they’ll have other solutions for you!

Yes, ive had one altered, but you might also be able to order a custom cup/band combo if you go to a dedicated bra shop (ie: not Victorias Secret ) 🙂
