We are just starting to look into DJ services for our reception. Something that is very important to my fiance is to have some ethnic music from his culture (Iranian) played at the reception for dancing.
The problem is, there is less than a .5% chance that any DJs in the area have a single Persian song. We, on the other hand, have tons.
Has anyone else ever provided the DJ a CD/mp3 files of songs you would like the DJ to play, or heard of this being done? Or can it only be from their own playlist/songs that they purchase themselves?

@ayala88: I haven’t done this, but I can’t imagine that they wouldn’t be able to do this for you. I would just ask them! 🙂

Ask your DJ
We certainly worked with ours… he was open to finding things we liked… or he said we could provide him with stuff too. He’ll let you know what format he needs.
And if there is a specific song(s) you want at a specific time, you guys will have to work out a playlist as well… so he can identify which ones to play when.
Hope this helps,

@ayala88: you most certainly can provide music you want to be played by your DJ. they work for you for the day. Just give them a CD or a list of songs and they can get them for you

I e-mailed my DJ several songs that I had edited myself. If you have the songs on cd and don’t want confusion as to what tracks/cds, etc. just rip the music off the cd using Windows Media Player. Under Tools->Options in the “Rip Music” tab, choose Format: MP3, and Audio quality somewhere around best quality (keep in mind the better the quality, the bigger the file). Choose a folder to save the files. Then when you put your cd in, in the Rip menu, you’ll be able to rip whichever tracks you choose from the cd. You can then name the files with the title of the song to eliminate confusion if you want particular ones played at particular times.

We just brought a flash drive with our mp3 files, but I’d check with your DJ.
