@ticatica:  Depends on how much you weigh (a 90lb person would have a harder time than a 500lb person), what you eat, exercise, etc. If you REALLY want to lose weight in the week, I’d recommend p90X. Even if you only do it for a week— the first week I did it I lost over 5 lbs and I am 160 on 5’6″.

I am having a dress fitting on Friday and my wedding in 9 days (the dress is for my August wedding). I’m certainly not recommending this for anyone else, but I’m doing the Dukan diet with 7 days in the attack phase (essentially extremely low carbs and low fat protein). I started on Monday and have already noticed a difference (I don’t wiegh myself). At first, a lot of what you lose is water weight. But ultimately reducing excess water can reduce inches.

I know that this is an extreme solution, but I’m a person that needs strict rules to follow. This works for me. 😀

Can you lose 3 pounds of *weight* in a week? Easily. Wrestlers and MMA fighters might have to lose 10+ pounds in 24 hours, so it can be done. Can you lose 3 pounds of fat in a week? No, I don’t think so. Even the 1-2 pound weekly recommended weight loss is going to be a partial loss of water weight and possibly lean muscle mass.

Losing water weight will still correlate to a smaller size though, so if that’s all you’re looking for, that can happen. MMA fighters use all sorts of tricks to lose water weight- taking a saltwater bath, dragging an exercise bike in a sauna and using the bike while wearing extra layers of clothes, etc. You don’t have to go to that extreme though. I’d recommend* for the next week eating nothing but eggs, chicken breast, broiled fish (nothing added on either), and certain types of veggies (supposedly broccoli and cauliflower can cause bloating) and drinking nothing but water.

*I mean recommend as I think it will give you results, not recommend as in I think you should do it.
