I have chosen a wedding dress but I am keen to make it unique to me and add some details to the dress. For instance, I’d like to jazz up the straps, and maybe take off the flower and add a beaded sash. Does anyone have any thoughts, suggestions or photo inspiration on this? I loved the dress when I tried it on but am now having the usual wedding nerves about whether or not I’m making the right choice, and hopefully focusing on positive alterations will keep those at bay!
Thanks all 🙂

I don’t have any suggestions (My Fiance is the artsy creative one in the relationship unfortunately) but I do want to say i LOVE the flower. I’m not much of a bling girl though

Your Dress is stunning! I would either change the sash or the straps but not both. I love the elegance of the bodice as it it. it looks gorgeous on you! If it were me, I would leave the straps as they are and start my search for sashes with a little bling:)

If you can I would remove the straps. With the flower, I would keep a flower, but if you want something different maybe go for a coloured flower instead?

I like straps, so I would agree with adding some thicker straps to it. I’d probably go with lace on the straps.
The flower looks nice to me and I’m not sure I’d change that. If you want to make it more unique, though, you might want to consider changing to a colored sash and flower in a color that works well with your wedding colors.
Of course, many people nowadays dislike both straps and color on wedding dresses, so I’m not sure how popular my suggestions will be. 🙂

@katie-louise: Beautiful dress! I would agree with a PP that you probably either want to change the straps (either add thicker ones or remove them completely) or change the sash (add and/or remove flower). I personally like the flower and the waist area as is and I think the dress would look gorgeous with thicker straps or just wear it as a strapless dress! I have never been a fan of spaghetti straps in wedding dresses, I think they better with thicker straps or no straps at all. Good luck and hope the alterations go well for you when you decide what you are going to do! Happy planning!

I really like the flower and I think beaded straps might look out of place. What about adding beading to the flower itself? Like inside the center part.

Hey, thanks so much for all your comments. I’ve been so worried that maybe it’s not the right dress. What do you all think? I really loved it when I tried it on but now worry that it’s not so flattering. Hence the need for adjustments…
The straps I like the idea of are (without the tulle on the back)…

and this is the dress with a sash added (looks a bit odd as the flower was still attached in the shop.

Did anyone have any advice on the straps at all? Thanks…
