    Bow tie would look black in some lighting, while windowing would be the yellow metal of the band showing through the stone, not black.  I see a little of both in your pics, but it looks like a very nice oval – the dark bow tie is minimal.  I wear an emerald cut set in platinum, and I sometimes see flashes of metal – it would be more obvious with yellow metal.  I think your oval is beautiful!

    And for those saying it doesn’t happen with their ovals, it might be due to having a different setting style.  Not all settings have metal running under the diamond, so it’s not really a similar comparison.
