@givemecouture:  that is weird. Even when I googled how to spot a fake after reading this post, the authentic ones had “made in china” in the description. You’d think Coach would put the same description on all the tags so it would be easy to spot a real one. Oh well. I’ve gotten all mine from authorized retailers (like Nordstrom, Dillards, etc) so I know they’re real. Now I’m going to go home and check my other ones too! I asked because I always thought it was funny. “Wow, they’re made in China yet we pay out the butt for them” lol

Haha I think they all say different things. We’ve all gotten them from a Coach store, Coach outlet, or authorized retailer and some have it and some don’t. I think Coach needs to get their stuff straight ;P

My coach purse is from an official coach store and says Handcrafted in China. It’s leather and from the legacy line.

@cmbr:  that depends. Certain ones are most definitely just outlet styles. But I have seen some from the main coach site make their way to the official outlet site. Some are just prior seasons bags that they need to get rid of.

@stardustintheeyes:  Have you seen them in the factory stores or just on the online site? That’s interesting — I didn’t think regular stock even made it to the factory stores.

@IzzyBear:  Strange hey?! I just texted my sister and hers says Handcrafted in China too. The one I have with me today is from the boutique in December and it’s a leather one. I’m interested to see if there’s a difference between the different materials.

@givemecouture:  maybe that’s the differnce?! Mine isn’t leather…maybe the leather ones are made in a different country. Hmmm.

Yikes, I just realized I threadjacked the OP. Sorry.

@cmbr:  I have seen both. The ones I have seen make it to the outlet stores have been only a handful. Like they will have maybe 20 of the bag rather than a whole back room full ya know?  YOu can tell its just left over stock and not a bag that is fully in stock at the outlet. I was just recently there and some of more recent regular coach site bags were there. there was even a couple of the really higher end ones made from better materials. Those were really scarce. Like two in the whole store. But it has happened. right now actually there are some things that are currently on the coach site and on the official factory site the same ones are over there just in certain colors that they stopped selling on the main coach site. I know this for sure because a few weeks ago while browsing the main coach site I thought “ooooh cute!” and then just a few days ago on one of the outlet events online a couple of the things I had liked made their way to the factory outlet site.

@Mrs.KMM:  I don’t really know what to look for either.  The only reason I know the one I have is legit is that I bought it at the factory store.  I’d be too scared to purchase one from an unverifiable source because there seems to be a lot of inconsistency that would make a fake hard to identify unless it had crappy stitching or something.

I have a statistical modeling program on my home computer (MBA Student), so if Bees are really interested, I’ll start a spinoff thread where we can put the type of store or website it was purchased from, cloth or leather, if the tag says where it was made, and if the serial number has one or two letters.  That might help figure out why the tags are different.

@PinkMermaid:  I can’t get the dang pictures to load on my iPhone but they have the smaller bag identical to the one you posted.  It’s $199 with 30% off after that and another 50% off after that. it’s the only one they have with that pattern. She said that they are going fast. Ill keep trying to load a photo!

@givemecouture:  the one I have right now is leather and it doesnt say made in china. it is so strange though how different they all are. there arent many things that line up and if it werent for the fact that I bought mine officially at a store I would be worried based on all the differences.
