I’m 9 days away from my wedding, and I just pulled my wedding dress out of its garment bag and noticed the bottom of the train is slightly wrinkly. Can I use one of those portable home steamers to get the wrinkles out? My dress is a pretty thin taffeta (Mori Lee calls it “luxe taffeta”), and I’m afraid that the steamer may cause water stains? Has anyone had any experience using one these home steamers to steam taffeta?
Thanks in advance!

Well I haven’t tried personally, but I might worry about it getting so close to your dress and “spewing”. Make sense? I would go turn on your shower as hot as it will go, let it run for 10 minutes. Then go hang your dress on the back of your bathroom door with your shower curtain closed and leave it for 20 minutes or so. Should take the majority of the wrinkles out without you having to worry about “splatter”. Do it another time before your wedding and you should be just fine!

Hi hbgirl02! I’m on the same boat and also have a Mori Lee “Luxe Taffeta” dress. My wedding is not for another 2 months. I would love to know what you end up doing and what worked best for you! Thanks!

DO NOT STEAM TAFFETA!!!!!!! (At least not directly)
It can wreck the fabric! However what you can do is take a towel and place it around the steamer or over the fabric and steam through the towel. this distributes the heat and the steam so you won’t melt the dress. You can go the shower steam route to get out small wrinkles but if there are any big wrinkles, this is the way to handle them.
