I just realized I’m about 7 months out and haven’t picked my DJ for my wedding. Because my wedding is in June, which is a popular time, I think I need to get my butt in gear. I’ve been researching a few DJ’s and I found one who I think seems to be pretty reputable. Would you mind looking at his site and telling me what you think.
The DJ I inquired about is Gordon, who I believe is the main guy. He sent me a email back the very next day saying he is open for my date and what all his services include with a price of $895 for my wedding/reception. According to his email, this includes wireless mic, lighting, the sound system, a custom CD with music from my reception, a double set up (one outside for my ceremony and one inside for the reception). He also says he provides written contracts, is insured, has backup equipment, etc. He also mentions being the president of the American Disc Jockey Association in Pittsburgh. He sounds very reputable. I’m really thinking of booking him. What do you ladies think?

He sounds quite impressive. I’d recommend looking up reviews from other weddings if you haven’t already, just to make sure

@karatechick27: He sounds prettygood, really. I’ve definitely heard of worse prices. I had a “top” Pittsburgh DJ quote me at $1400.
Will he play the music you want? That was a huge question for me. Lots play top 40 and not much else. Check out DJ Zombo. We’re using him for our wedding–he may be booked up though as he said he booked faster this year than any other. (He did an indie wedding fair in May–that probably was what did it!) He charges $600 bucks for the day. No time limit, no travel fees within an hour or two of Pgh, multiple set ups, splash of color on the floor. Plays what ever the heck you want. Told us that he’s done all rockabilly weddings, one all Jamaican ska wedding, etc. Reviews of him we read said that he was really low key but brought the fun out on the dancefloor.
Like I mentioned, he might be booked up but its worth a shot! How did you find the one mentioned above? Do you know who within the company comes recommended and if there is anyone to stay away from?
