I think it’s fine to use the same garter (I wouldn’t be superstitious about something like that), but I think you could easily avoid this problem by just buying a new toss garter.  I’ve seen them sold for as low as $5.  Since you’re tossing it, there’s no point in buying a good quality garter.  Just a thought!

@Firinne:  To be completely honest, I wouldn’t use that tossing garter. Maybe I am superstitious too, but I would rather go to Michael’s with a 40% off coupon and get one there, and be on the “safe side”

If you’re superstitious buy a new one to use, otherwise sure save the money.

I’d use it. I caught the garter at my best friend’s wedding 3 years before mine. I used it at my wedding- she was excited about it.

Garters cost about $5.00 in Michael’s.  I’d wear my own.

Garters aren’t that expensive.  Just buy a new one and use it.

If your desire to save five bucks out weighs your superstition there’s no reason practical reason you can’t use it. I don’t think I even had a “toss” garter since inwasn attached to the one I wore.

If you don’t feel like doing it, skip the tradition.

Otherwise- I say use it. It’s a few inches of fabric, I’m pretty sure your friend’s marriage failed because of something else.

That is up to you!!

BUT, when my cousin was married I caught the bouquet and later that night she explained to me that it had been around 🙂 She caught it, and her friend that married before her caught it. So everyone that had caught it, ended up married.

I was just married 3 months ago!
