So, I went to my final fitting yesterday, and the dress fits perfectly! (Paloma Blanca 3906). But as I was putting my bubble veil on, one of the girls at the shop asked if I would be wearing my hair down…because my hair seems to be longer than my veil. And yes, I am wearing my hair down, and getting extensions on top of that so it will be super long (a little past the boobs)
So here is my question bees: can I wear a veil that is a few inches shorter than my hair? I wish I had pics, but I don’t. Basically, my dress is very simple, no beading or lace. My hair will be big, long and wavy and the bubble veil poofs out at the top and hits above where my hair ends…
The lady at the shop made it seem like there is a rule against veils being shorter than the hair…I had never hear of it. Anyways, any advice you have is greatly appreciated…especially since I am getting married in 9 days!!

Wow….I’ve never thought of that! I don’t think there is any rule about that. You said that your hair is going to be wavy which I think will work out just find with your veil. Now if your hair was going to be completely straight I might think that would look a little funny. I think you look will be a very elegant 1940ish look. (If thats what your going for!) Either way dont worry about it! Everyone has their own prefernce of whats “normal”. Good luck!

My sisters veil was shorter than her hair and every time she looks at pictures she asks me why I never mentioned it to her because it still bothers her 5 years later.
I thought it looked nice.

I dont see why it cant be shorter than your hair but you should definitely get another opinion from a girlfriend/sister/mother/cousin to make sure that it doesnt look weird if you are concerned about it!

I wore a birdcage, which is shorter than my hair. I can’t image why a veil would look funny shorter than your hair. Just a quick scan through google images and I found these that look great. Do you have a photo of your veil?

It’s hard to tell without seeing a picture but when I imagine it in my head, something just doesn’t seem quite right about it. There is certainly no rule against it but I would show some people who you trust to be completely honest with you about how it looks before the wedding day.

What will your wedding day hairstyle be? I think that’s a consideration.
In general though, I think you can wear whatever veil you’d like. 🙂 I doubt anyone would notice something “off.”

I say go with what you like! I was thinking of doing something similar, but with a smaller birdcage veil.
I also agree with gemstone. No one will be pointing at you as you go down the aisle like “OMG, will you look at that. Her hair is One inch longer than the veil, the travesty” 😀
