@Lyndzo:  I have seen a lot of stores doing black friday sales this year.  GAP is having a 60% off sale for most of their clothes.  Banana Republic is also doing a sale, though not as big as Gap’s.  I think its definitely worth a trip to the mall, as I’ve seen a lot of advertising this year!

I have always wondered why the Canadian retailers wouldn’t try the black friday sales…I am always so jealous!

I usually end up doing a lot of my Christmas shopping online on Cyber Monday, but I noticed last year that there’s a lot of stores starting to do Black Friday sales. It’s a good idea, I used to go to the US just for the sales and now I don’t have to. I’m planning on going shopping to see what sales are going on.

Check out online stores! A lot of them have Black Friday specials.

Black Friday seems to have been sneaking in to Canada the last few years. I’ve seen a lot of stores with sales for this friday. Not as big as boxing day, but still.

@Lyndzo: All the major stores here are competing. Our 2 main shopping malls are having full on deals all weekend. How far are you from the border? It may be heavier competing sales here because a shopping trip south is literally 2 hours of driving, if you have a further distance it could be affecting their need to compete.

@subtlebee:  Our Thanksgiving is in October (on a Monday), and we don’t have any sales like black friday around that time. Our Black Friday equivelent is the day after Christmas (Dec 26) and we call it “Boxing Day”.

@Lyndzo:  I’m stuck at work for the start of the sales on friday, hopefully some things are left still for saturday and sunday.

Black Friday is definitely a trend that is catching in Canada – retailers want money and consumers want deals. It’s a perfect time to have it (before Christmas) and I’ve found that Boxing Day sales have been losing steam here. But..I hate shopping when it’s busy so I will stay safely at home.

I need a new camera so will be trolling the internet on Cyber Monday in hopes of finding a good deal on one!

Alot of places are having black friday says to try and keep people here (instead of them going across the border).
