From a US jeweler, online.  The prices were better, as was the quality.  And we drove over the boarder to pick it up.  🙂

My set is from Mappins. Centre stone of the e-ring is Canadian. I had a good experience with the location we went to!

all of my rings are from ben moss (promise ring, e-ring, wedding band). the lady (coquitlam centre) was kind and super helpful. we had been in to one in surrey (guildford) and thought that the man was super pushy and kinda rude.

FH got his ring through etsy, fwiw

Mine is from a local jeweler here in Montreal. It’s a canadian princess cut bezel set with a pave band.

@lavenderstone:  My e-ring came from Mappins. Our wedding bands are coming from Charm Diamond Centre (mine) and Ben Moss (my FI).

My engagement ring and both of our wedding bands, are from Independent Jewellers in Edmonton.  They were really great to deal with, and we got a great price.  My diamond is a Canadian (with the teeny tiny polar bear, love) diamond, and also has a warranty to replace anything that should happen to the ring.

@lavenderstone:  FI designed my ring online from a place in New York City. Apparently it was a bit complicated as he had to send in a copy of his passport and stuff to prove he didn’t just steal a credit card or something. But he got a great deal, my with taxes and shipping etc. was about $5000 and it’s been appraised at about $7500.

I’m really glad to have found this thread! I’m a new member (I’ve lurked as a guest!), so this is my first post! Yay!

My boyfriend and I are starting to look for engagment rings and talking about where we should get them from. We’ve visited a couple of People’s stores. The customer service really does seem to depend on what particular store you visit!! I like the lifetime service plan that you can get. I am still a bit hesitant buying from such a big retailer, though. How do you find the quality of the rings (those who have got them from People’s or Mappins)?

I would really like a sapphire as the centre stone instead of a diamond, so I am somewhat considering a custom jewellery designer, but that seems that it wouldn’t come with the same level of lifetime care agreement. One of the sales people at People’s said that they would be able to replace the diamond with a sapphire if that was what I wanted. Has anybody had any experience with that kind of work from one of the larger retailers?
