Rose214:  For us, there is no standard amount. The biggest factor in our decision making is the closeness of our relationship with the couple. There are other factors though- money we have already spent on them for showers, money we have had to spend to travel to the wedding, first or following marriage etc.

For us I have always have a standard amount of 100 dollars for me and my SO. It doesn’t matter how close we are with them or how much each plate is.

If it’s a gift and the couple is registered somewhere it makes things a lot easier and we would keep it under $200.

If we’re giving cash, we try to consider the price the couple is paying per plate because we’d want to, at the very least, cover that part of it all.

Rose214:  It seems to vary by region.  I’m from the east coast and what’s normal there is lower than where I live now in Southern Ontario.  Here it’s usually between $75 and $100 per guest.

150 per person for all weddings minimum. It goes up if venue is expensive, relatives, close friends etc.
