Between 1pm and 3pm, while you are taking pictures, what are the other guests going to be doing?

I said no because they will be eating soon. Also with that second buffet it is more then enough food. I don’t think I would even partake in the buffet after eating a three course meal a couple hours earlier.

I did vote yes, but only because if I were a guest waiting for lunch, 3pm might be a bit late to be eating.  If I’m aware of this, I’ll have a late lunch or a snack, but not everyone plans ahead.

I would just do something light, easy, and inexpensive for guests to nibble on while you do photos.  Something like a fruit, veggie, and cheese assortment would be more than enough.  Just a little something to hold people over.

@ticatica:  We have garden games organised.

Then I guess nothing should be served, because you have a 3 course sit down meal at 3:00 pm If people are involved with the garden games, the food will be wasted because nobody would be eating.

I’m gonna switch it up jsut because I eat about every 3 hours. I’d serve canapes between the sit down and the buffet. 3 to 8 would be a loooong 5 hours for me. But for the time during pictures, I don’t think you’d need to.

I think I’d like to have something to nibble on.  If I knew a big meal was coming at 3 PM I wouldn’t want to eat a normal-sized lunch at noon-ish; I would eat something light, but probably would appreciate something to nibble on between a very light early lunch and the big meal at 3.

I voted yes. I kind of think guests (at least at the weddings I’ve been to) expect a little something, even if it is an assortment of pastries or cheese or whatever between the ceremony and the dinner service, particularly if the B + G are missing. If you are concerned about wasted food, then you can always do tray-passed so the servers are mingling amongst the guests. I wouldn’t do a huge spead (like what I’ve seen on TV with full carving stations, pastas, etc.) as that would be overkill. We went to a wedding where the ceremony was in one venue and then we had to drive to another venue for a second ceremony (intercultural relationship) and reception. When we got to the second location site, there was water/lemonade/tea set out and an assortment of ethnic snacks/munchies/cookies from the bride’s culture set out in literally one-bite sizes. It was a nice touch and people were definitely eating them.

I voted yes.  I think it just needs to be passed and very light & small bites.
