My Fiance and are going to the Valentin Imperial Maya resort which is between Cancun and Playa del Carmen. It’s a 4.5 stars all inclusive with reviews comparable to Secrets Maroma, adults only and very affordable. We are going for 2 full weeks and for the both of us, including airfare and transfers, it’s costing around $3500. That’s pretty amazing!

We’re staying at Le Blanc Spa Resort in Cancun for 11 days for our honeymoon in June. We’ve been down there 3 times and stayed at Moon Palace each time, because my parents have a timeshare with Palace Resorts. Le Blanc is a bit more pricey than Palace Resorts even though they’re affiliated. We’re paying about $5000 to stay for 11 days, but it’s all inclusive! Any of the Palace Resorts will cost about $2200 per couple (8 days/7nights) if you go through a member or agency and they’re all-inclusive as well. Really great deal for 2 ppl if you think about the fact that they’re 5 star resorts and you can eat and drink all you want! Plus free tours. We really love it there! My parents love staying at the Adventura Palace because it’s adults only! Check it out! http://www.palaceresorts.com or http://www.leblancsparesort.com

We went to Excellence Playa Mujeres, just a few minutes north of Cancun.  It was out of the all of the loud, commercial “strip” stuff in Cancun.  The service and accomodations were terrific.  I highly recommend them!  We went on a Sandals vacation the summer prior and Excellence was MUCH better.  It was referred by a friend to us and we can’t say enough about it to others now.  Good luck!

I wouldn’t recommend going to Cancun for your honeymoon. It’s too much of a “party” atmosphere. Lots of kids and teenagers. If you’r wanting to go to Mexico for honeymoon, check out Cozumel or Playa del Carmen, they are more for the older crowd and romantic!

Cancun is amazing! Depending on the resort you stay at you wont be bothered by any partying teens. There are a couple adults only resorts. Try Sun Palace, its adult only and very beautiful. I would also suggest looking into hotels on Isla Mejures, a small island that just a ferry ride away from canun. It’s a little more intimate than Cancun, and has amazing beaches.

We went to the Sun Palace and LOVED it! We got there Nov. 1 and it was practically EMPTY. As long as your not going during spring break you are fine. It was seriously so quiet and low key in the fall… (the entire city not just our hotel.)

Secrets Silversand is adult only, all inclusive, has a great beach, and would probably come close to fitting within your price range. Dream Tulum, while not adult only, may work as well.

Good luck!

I’m not going for my honey moon, but that is where I got engaged, and it was so great and so romantic, I didn’t have any problems with too many people and we went in September. I loved doing all inclusive, it was really good and convenient! We stayed at Grand Oasis Viva (but they have since changed their name…. I’m not sure what to). I agree with pp’s look for an adults only but make sure you watch that because some of them are *ahem* naughty hotels, topless, etc. so if your not comfortable with that you will want to avoid it, and if you are comfortable with it, enjoy!
