I’m going to the Grand Mayan Riviera Maya for the HM! Any suggestions for restaurants/activities in the cancun/playa del carmen area? I have my heart set on Xcaret to swim with dolphins and explore underwater caves 🙂

Try going to this beach club the same day you visit Tulum.
We did the Ruins in the morning and the aft and evening here
Heaven on earth!
Also take a ferry to Cosumel and rent a scooter. That was a blast. The ferry docks right from the heart of Playa Del Carmen

I second Tulum and Cozumel. Also, if you’re OK with a longer drive, you can visit the Mayan Ruins at Chitzen Itza. It’s a bit of a trek but an awesome time.

Ohh soo fun. Was there a couple years ago with my Fiance. I did a day trip to Xel-ha and Tulum and it was amazing, definitely try to see either on top of Xcarat. I wanted to do Cozumel and booked it twice but both times it got cancelled for high wind. I also recommend the day trip ferry to Isla Mujeres. It was like $50 bucks a person and was very pleasant and included a free lunch. You can spend the day at the beach or ride scooters through town or can go diving and just walk around. In Cancun, don’t be afraid to take the city bus. It was like 30 cents and we took it all over town and it was so easy and fun. You will see tons of advertising for a place called Aqua World. They will do parasailing, snorkeling, scuba, cruises, etc.

I also took the bus on a trip to Cancun four years ago and felt totally safe.

In Cancun you have to go to CocoBongos. Best club ever! They had acrobats, celebrity impersonators performing and great dance music. It was one of the highlights of our trip. Its like 50 bucks to get in but well worth it. Check with your resort, they might have a shuttle that goes there.
Also check out Isla Mejures, which is a very short ferry ride from cancun. We biked the whole island, and found some amazing beaches
