As some of you know my mom passed away a month ago.
My Fiance and I have decided to light a candle in her memory at the very beginning of our ceremony. I want it to signify the presence of my mom’s spirit and her memory.
The officiant sent me the wording for the entire ceremony and for the most part it is beautiful, but I’m not satisfied with the wording for the candle lighting ceremony. It almost turns into a unity candle. I do not want that.
I know there are some great writers on here. I was wondering if I could get your assistance in how to rewrite this part.
This is what she wrote.
Alena and Chris are celebrating their uniqueness and individual integrity by lighting these candles. As each of them light the tapers the love and the spirit of Alena’s Mom Kathy is here with them and all of you. Kathy’s love is present in the strength of Alena and Chris, in their relationship and the fluidity of life. The Centre candle depicts the blending together of their relationship and the blending of the Families.
