I love candy so this is a great idea! We wanted to do it, but it just wasn’t in our budget.

My Grandpa was the most pumped about our candy bar because there was a whole container of Jordan Almonds.

I’d still pick cake over candy, though.  I love wedding cake.  So I’d change my vote if you’re doing candy INSTEAD of cake.

I think a candy bar is a really cute idea, but it only works for certain themes.  If you’re having a black-tie affair, a candy bar won’t work so well.  If you’re having a vintage/rustic/whimsical/etc style wedding, then it will be great.

Since we had take-out containers with ours and that was basically our favor – no one really ate any during the reception.  That’s something to consider.

Also candy can be classy.  🙂  Maybe not black-tie, but classy.

I just went to my first wedding with a candy bar, and after reading all about them on the Bee I was excited to see it, but felt like it was just “meh” when I actually saw it.  Maybe it depends on the type of candies.  This wedding also had chocolate dipped fruit (already dipped, not a fountain), cookies and bite-sized cakes, and slim slices of wedding cake.  I think my favorite dessert item was the chocolate covered banana pieces.

My SO’s friend had a candy bar at her wedding, and honestly, I thought it was tacky. It was a cute idea, but it was such a traditional elegant wedding that a gummy worm buffet just didn’t mesh. I think having a mini one for the kids would be cute, but at such a formal event, it seems juvenile. Sorry if I sound like a kill joy. I think it was just how they did it that irked me.

I love the idea, but I would also include something other than candy 🙂

These are tremendously popular right now and so there must be lots of people out there that like it but I’m not really a candy person so I probably wouldn’t eat much. That being said, my fiance would pig out, so it’s mostly a personal thing. But if it’s something you like go for it! I just urge you to care more about the taste/quality of candy rather than going for a particular look/color.
