- Wedding: March 2013
Hi Bee’s. So the candy bar has been my “baby” throughout this wedding process but since it is going to be a huge highlight at our wedding (I will have over 16 different types of candy) I want to make sure I have enough. I know I did a lot of research online and it said to have about 6 oz’s for each wedding guest. The maximum number we will have (which is the number we are buying for) is 150 so that means around 57 lbs of candy. The problem I have is none of our candy really says how many pounds it is so all along, I haven’t been basing it off pounds but rather how many pieces are in each back and figuring a number that I THINK each guest will take. For example, nerds are larger so I doubt a guest would take over 2 boxes. However, the buttermints and starbursts are smaller so they may just grab a handful or 4-5. This is what I have so far…. tell me what you think if you have done a candy bar before.
Dum-Dum’s- I made these cute little Dum Dum Tree’s I found online. These are my centerpieces. I made 2 trees which used 800 dum dum’s (I know this is more than plenty of these).
Starbursts Fave Red Variety- I bought 8 bags that say “20% more” than standard bags. It comes out to be about 800 starbursts.
Skittles- I bought these in the individually wrapped packets online like they have at halloween. Each bag contains around 90 packs and I bought 3 for a total of 270. I realize this isn’t as many but they are larger so I am hoping people only take 1 or 2.
Pixie Sticks- I have 200 pixie sticks.. I bought fewer of these intentionally because I doubt our older guests will take them. These are mostly for the kids.
Butterscotch Discs- I don’t know how many there are, these actually came by the pound. I bought 4 pounds (3 medium sized bags)
Cinnamon Discs- Same as butterscotch discs.
Nerds- I bought 8 bags for a total of 300 boxes.
Double Bubble Gum- I have 4 pounds of bubblegum.
Stride ID Gum- These are the full size gum packets. I have 150 of these exactly and am thinking about putting a label on this jar that says “Take one, please” or something like that.
Buttermints- I bought these in the 50ct bags for Michaels. I have 450 buttermints. I may get more of these since people like mints after eating.
Hershey’s Simple Plesures Dark Chocolate: I have 450 pieces.
Reese Cups- Have not bought this yet but plan to purchase 2 56 oz bags from Sam’s Club so 7 pounds.
Hershey’s Assorted Minitures (Mr. Goodbar, Krackle, Dark and Milk Chocolate)- I plan to buy 2 56 oz bags from Sam’s so again 7 pounds.
Hershey Kisses- Same as above.. 2 56 oz bags so 7 pounds.
Now, I know I have ENOUGH candy for everyone (this will fill more than 150 pint size take out boxes) but what I am worried about mostly is that everyone will go towards the more popular candy (chocolate, mints) and that will run out while the nerds, pixie sticks, etc will be all thats left for the last people.
What should I do? Buy a ton more chocolate or just leave it the way it is and if I run out of chocolate- oh well? Or do you think this is enough? How much did you bee’s use of each variety?
