I love candy, so it is very fitting to have a candy buffet at our wedding, which will double as the favors. Our guests will be going to the reception hall for an hour before we arrive, and I don’t want to miss out on seeing the candy buffet, and I would love to have pictures of it. I have heard of people waiting until after dinner to “reveal” it, but how would we do this? Do we cover it with a sheet? Or am I just being ridiculous and should just let them have at it before we get there?

From what I’ve seen, the empty jars are just on display, and the candy is filled in when it’s time to open it.
I’m planning to have mine at the start of the reception. Our cocktail hour will be in another area of the venue, so I’ll still get to see the candy buffet!

@purplelace: I had candy for my favors. They were out on display from the beginning, and it was a big hit! The problem is that people were munching on it the entire time, so by the end, there wasn’t any left to take. I felt kinda bad, but I didn’t realize people would be eating it the whole time! I would suggest you do exactly what I did (it will def make your guests happy) but just buy a lot more than you think you’d need, because you can always return what you don’t use.

We had ours open the whole time. At another wedding they tried to stop people from getting into it. It did not work, and it caused embarassment for the people that helped themselves. Our math for how much to buy was 1/2 to 3/4 lb per person. We also used it as a favor. We had a sign in front of it thanking people for coming. We were left with a fair amount of candy.

We did a candy buffet and had the candy in it at the start of the reception! It was a big hit. Our wedding was almost 4 months ago and people are still talking about the candy buffet. Just have someone take lots of pictures of it before everyone gets to it. Here is a picture of ours! I love how it turned out!!

I had my wedding coordinator bring out the set-up halfway thru the reception. It was noted in our program what time the candy buffet would be available.
Didn’t realize what a big hit it was….the candy was gone super quickly!
