For those of you who have had a candy buffet and wedding cake (or have been to a wedding with both) did your guest choose one over the other? I’m considering getting a slightly smaller cake than we need because of the candy buffet but I am nervous about doing that.

I’ve been to a wedding with both and it worked out really well. The candy buffet became more of the wedding favors (little bags that you fill yourself with all the candy lovin) and then most people ate the cake and stashed their candy for later. It made for something fun to take away from the wedding (because who doesnt like candy?) and we still all enjoyed their cake. It was a very small wedding and they had a normal 3-4 tier cake. Hope this helps 🙂

I’m having a large cake and a candy buffet. Since we’re doing a beach inspired wedding I ordered small tin “pails” (with our name/date on them, and a beach scene) and those will be our favors, for the guests to politely fill their pails! I love the candy buffet idea so I knew I had to incorporate it somehow 🙂
(the seating cards will be tied onto personalized starfish to also add to the favor pail)

I am planning on having both a wedding cake and a candy bar, for different times of the day. Between the ceremony and the reception, there will be a candy bar for snacks. Then dinner, toasts, and then cake. I have a crazy sweet tooth and want sugar available all night. Good luck!

I will be having both a cake and a dessert/sweets (indians are big on their sweets) buffet and am opting for faux layers on my cake for it to be grand without all the waste 🙂
