I am working on it now mine is going to cost maybe 200.  i am doing blue and brown candies and i found the best place to buy jars is at old time pottery.  Not sure if you have that store nearby but the jars were like 1/3 the price of michaels.  also try craigs list for jars the had lots on there.  I am buying most of my candy at costco.  good luck and please let me know if you have any other suggestions.

My wedding is in 4 weeks and I have just about finished my candy buffet (no pics yet sorry!).

Glassware: we found a lot of cool/different styles of cookie jars/apothecary jars/jars with and without lids at Michael’s (glassware was on sale/had a 40% coupon), Big Lots, Salvation Army, and Wal-Mart actually had a great selection. I spent less than $100 on glassware definitely for about 12 jars.

Candy: Save money by not restricting the colors. We got a TON of candy in bulk at BJ’s. It’s the cheapest, plus my aunt had a lot of coupons specifically for candy. We got about 60 lbs (estimate 1/4 to 1/2 lb per guest, we have 120 guests). Spent around $120 and got a mix of chocolates/sweets/sours

Labels: I made these cool labels using powerpoint and I’m going to print them on cardstock and hang them around each jar with silver ribbon.

Have fun!!

Oh and I got Wilton’s clear shaped bags with ties at Wal-Mart, 2 packs of 100 for $3 each I think. You can definitely do it on a budget! Craigslist would be good for glassware too.

You can find cheap candy online too but beware of shipping – it’s by weight and will end up costing you more than you expect. Definitely try to shop at a BJ’s or Costco if you know someone who is a member.

i recently just went to a wedding with a candy buffet. i’m not sure why, but i didn’t like the idea of having wrapped candies/goodies on the table. i dunno…just didn’t seem as aesthetically pleasing or something…just my opinion…i would stick with unwrapped goods

ours was pretty cheap and it really was worth it. we got all of our jars/vases from thrift shops and garage sales for like 50 cents a piece!  we bought all of our candy at target with gift cards from my shower.  we bought clear celophane bags from a craft store and decorated them with stickers from vista print.  we got our scoops and tongs from a dollar store.  i also purchased a few acrylic risers from amazon just to make sure some of the jars were different heights.  in the center, i placed a beautiful glass cake stand i had bought at a thrift store and filled it with pumpkin flavored munchkins for our fall wedding. yum!

ps. i think it’s okay to use a few different colors and not have to stick to just one.  we stuck to golds, browns, reds, oranges, and it was perfect because they were all fall colors.

pps. do a trial run with the wrapped candy to make sure you have enough to fill each jar.

good luck.

one more suggestion: don’t buy candies that just look good, buy ones that taste good too!  don’t leave your guests to eat black licorice and jordan almonds when they want pb cups!
