@Weddings-N-More:  It’s pretty common. The first wedding I went to where that was the case was at least 4 years ago.

ETA: Usually brides will provide take out boxes or cute bags to take the candy home, so it’s not like the candy buffet is desert, it’s clearly a party favor.

@Weddings-N-More:  I have heard of candy buffets and I think they are a great idea. They usually have little decorative boxes that you fill with candy 🙂

That’s what we did for our wedding.  Everyone loved it. They ate candy during the reception and were able to take a bunch home as their favor.  We had cute white bags with our names and wedding date on them.

Seems to be a new trend starting, along with Popcorn buffets and cookie tables.  Cookie tables are a tradition in my area though.

We did the candy buffet instead of a favor and everyone loved it! We had cute little bags for everyone to fill up and take home!

We did a candy buffet as favors and it was a big hit. My Darling Husband and I didn’t get any we were too busy that night but I saw it briefly and in pics and my guests said they really liked it.

@rickhurst35:  I’m in Virginia, but family is from pa.  Cookie table was our favor!

This is what I am doing. It saves me the work of assembling all those favors beforehand, and people will be able to pick out what they want.
