I am having a candy buffet… and 150 people… here is how i figured it up..  I see a lot were figuring it up by ounces per guest.. me– I figured it up by pieces per guest.. bc its easier to me.. idk.lol. I wanted ~ 20 pieces per person to be on the safe side… bc some of the pieces include gumballs and lemonheads.. which are small..

dnt laugh at my chart.. lol but hope this helps.. I got most of my candy from the dollar tree and target…  and my jarsvases from Michaels (wcoupons) and TJ maxx .  I think it will be ooohhhh sooo worth it !!!

I didn’t think it was that big of a hassle. We collected jars, then collected candy to fill them with (some ordered online, some from discount/dollar stores, some from WalMart/Michael’s). In theory we budgeted 5 lbs per person, but I also took into account the type of candy (i.e. M&Ms are more popular than Lemonheads). We had 150 people, 20 types of candy and 3-5 lbs of most candy, and we didn’t run out of anything.

same as @pinkpaperbride… we collected jars over time.. with coupons .. it wasnt hard at all.. and they don’t all have to match….

I agree about not having to match! We had glass containers of all different sizes and shapes, and most of ours came from thrift stores for $1-$5 a pop.

I got my scoops from michaels (with coupon) and small clear tongs from dollar tree in the wedding section.. They were 4 for a dollar!!

I bow to DIY brides, want to come do my candy buffet? I got it quoted and it ended up being $6 per person (YIKES!!!). We decided instead to do old champagne glasses, you know the flat ones,  of M&M’s (in our colors) at each table. We are getting a photobooth and figured favors weren’t necessary.

@pinkpaperbride: @PennyTee: Curious for those that did it on their own how much it ended up costing per person?

@soon2bmrsgarcia: What are your colors? Perhaps bees can recommend candies that match? You are getting married around Easter which offers a whole new array of various colors.

I know that some sites actually sell candy by color–I am going to get some of mine through one: candywarehouse!  YAY!

I bought my candy containers from another bride off Craigslist and then sold them the same way. I also bought all of my candy the day after Easter and it was a massive hit. I bought cellophase bags off the internet in our colors and I made stickers from a monogram I bought off etsy to seal the bags so people didn’t spill candy all over.

    I highly recommend it.

As hard as it is, I reccomend trying to stick with your decor colours (instead of just having loads of different coloured candy). Although there may not be as much variety, it definitely looks a lot better (and neater)
