I am trying to think of a creative theme for my wedding. Not something over the top, but something to give me direction for my decor. Anyway, I thought of 2 really cute themes, but don’t think they will work for me, so I figured I would share with all of you:
Have the bridesmaids carry bouquets of lollipops. For centerpieces, fill apothecary jars with real candy or make fake ones with styrofoam and cellophane. Give out giant lollipops or cotton candy as favors. And of course, you would want to have a candy bar!
Ice Cream Theme:
This one I really like, but would have to change my colors to pastels and my wedding is in the fall, so that wouldn’t work at all. But, I thought about making tussie-mussies that look like ice cream cones that the bridesmaids could carry, naming the tables after our favorite flavors (maybe color coordinating the tablecloths!). The centerpieces could be vintage ice cream dishes with candles floating in them (FI’s idea, yay! he’s finally contributing!). And I found ice cream shaped bubbles to give to guests!

I love the ice cream theme!!!! I would have to include these if I were you!!

i like the ice cream idea a little better than the candy ideas – the ice cream dish is so fun.
You could have a build your own ice cream sundae station! Each table could be named after a different flavor of ice cream (i think the color coordinated table clothes is a little too overboard), favors could be a mini ice cream scoop.

Your colors could be Neopolitan: Brown, Ivory, and Pink.

I am so loving the ice cream idea!! I LOVE tessabella’s suggestion of Neopolitan colors as well…and during the cocktail hour, you could have ice cream themed drinks/etc.

If I weren’t allergic … I’d go buy Neopolitan right NOW! Great idea for color. Love it.

I like the ice cream idea. We were looking into renting an ice cream truck to arrive as the ceremony was getting out. It was surprisingly cheap. We ended up not doing it, since we could have very cold weatehr in October. Maybe there’s a company near you that would do that.
I think the way to get a theme to work well is to not go over the top. I also like the brown, ivory, and pink idea – you could use these colors to help tie things together too, without having ice cream everywhere.

Love the ice cream theme! I saw these in a wedding magazine, you could use them as Bridesmaid or Best Man favors or put them in the bathrooms??? http://www.beau-coup.com/ice-cream-towel-favors.htm?9gtype=search&9gkw=ice%20cream%20towels&9gad=2758949558&gclid=CNWWu7nluJwCFSNQagodHD3VoA
They are towels wrapped up to look like ice cream in an ice cream cone! SO CUTE! And like tessabella’s idea, they come in pink, brown, or white (strawberry, chocolate, or vanilla of course)

Okay, I just noticed that the same website has candy towels too! haha, so now I can’t decide which I like better: http://www.beau-coup.com/candy-towel-favors.htm

I definitely love the enthusiasm! I really wish I could use this theme and all of your great ideas! (BTW, we are having an ice cream bar, that was my inspiration!) Unfortunately, I’m already set on my colors (black & white & purple & silver) and really don’t want to change. But when I do get my theme/motif, I’ll definitely be sure to post! You all are really good at thinking outside the box (or knot as the case may be…:)!

I love both theme ideas – maybe you could even combine them for an overall “sweet” theme so you can use more of your great ideas. Check out Mrs. Lovebug’s posts for sure for candy inspiration.

- Wedding: June 2010 - Ceremony - First United Methodist Church; Reception - My parents' house!
I like the candy idea!
For either, I would look at Amy Atlas’ stuff for inspiration. Her stuff is not always just candy, but other stuff as well. I think it would still be a good source of ideas. 🙂
