Just being nosey, what does everyone prefer? I used to eat the canned stuff growing up, but now every year I make it homemade. Some at our table still prefer the canned. Not sure if it’s their actual preference or a testament to my cooking – haha!

Canned! Out of all the people I know, only one person likes them. I’d rather focus my energy into other dishes. Haha. And if your table likes canned, just do can! To each their own!

I have only had my mom’s homemade, I’ve never tried the canned. I love love love the stuff my mom makes!

RedHeadKel: homemade. I make this recipe, its like the canned but better. If you make it a few days in advance it sets nicely.

Homemade! My favorite recipe for it is Pioneer Woman’s!

I wont touch the jelly junk. I love homemade cranberry… Blessed that my mom finally shared her recipe once I started hosting.

monsterly: Oh yes, to each their own! I’ll serve both so everyone’s happy. It’s super easy to make so there’s barely any focus haha!
anonkitty: Wow, that’s cool! My mom makes a baked cranberry/orange thing that I’d really like to try!

annabelle90: Oh wow, that sounds good! Juniper berries?? Super interesting! We should have a Cranberry Tasting Contest!
serendipityz: I loooooooove her, I’ll bet it’s good!
smoocheepoo: Mom’s are cool like that!

I never particularly noticed cranberry sauce until I discovered The Pioneer Woman’s cranberry sauce recipe. Then I became a complete and utter cranberry sauce snob! Now I use that stuff whenvever I find an excuse: On sandwiches, served on the side with meatloaf or chicken breasts, and even as a filling in cupcakes. I’m already drooling at the thought of that citrusy goodness that I’ll whip up next week.
I’m totally making leftover turkey Monte Cristo sandwiches with it too: http://noblepig.com/2013/11/leftover-turkey-cranberry-monte-cristo-sandwiches/

i use whole cranberry sauce when cooking – like make sweet and sour meatballs.
but i love my mom’s homemade cranberry relish. it does incluse a can of whole canned cranberrys, canned pineapple tidbits, and walnuts. i think that’s all that’s in there. easy and delicious.

I HATE! Jello, but I love me some jellied cranberries. I also appreciate the real deal.. But gram always supplied enough cans of the jellied stuff that none of the grandkids had to share with anyone. Hahaha, that may explain my thunder thighs growing up 😉

I can’t pick a favorite! I like both! I love the whole berry kind, but it doesn’t feel like Thanksgiving without a spoonful of Ocean Spray… I swear those ridges from the side of the can make it taste better haha

CakeSniffer: I looooooove cranberry sauce on sandwiches! And I always forget about using it on sammies!! And with meatloaf sounds like such a great idea!
ajillity81: Yaeh, I could swear my mom’s baked cranberry/orange sauce has pecans for that little crunch. It’s a good idea! Mine doesn’t have that. :-/
Brook10: Haha! I can kinda picture a bunch of people sitting around with their own can just eating it with a spoon right out of the can. (not that you are)
katie08: You know, maybe I should take a spoonful too for old time’s sake! Those rrrrrrridges!!

I love canned! But I also haven’t had homemade that I enjoyed. I had an aunt make it and it was sooo sour/tarte that I couldn’t eat it 🙁
