I feel ya on this. I am totally picky with solitaires though, so most don’t make my heart patter. But while I always knew I wanted a halo, right before we pulled the plug on my custom ring I got this feel like “Oh my gosh, we could save a lot of money and still have a gorgeous ring if I did a rose gold solitaire setting!”

My favorite is Jcent’s rose gold solitaire with a barely pink 10mm OEC moissy. I’d have put a 9-10mm unenhanced OEC in one and been really happy I think. My I love pave, so I know my halo is totally the perfect ring for me in the long run. But I’d sure love a solitaire in the future ๐Ÿ™‚

I totally feel you on this! I used to hate solitaires, I thought they were so boring and I always felt like if I got one I would be insulted because my fiance would think I’m boring enough to have one. But now, I LOVE THEM!! I think they’re so pretty and that’s all I can see myself having. Weird how things change hey?!

I’ve never been a fan of solitaires, and even after being on this website that didn’t change. I love halo rings, and have fallen in love with different cut stones just because of their halo.

I think solitaires are too…there. The only time I like them is when they are more than 1 ct and perfect everything. The less perfect they are, the less beautiful I feel they are. I also don’t like how they sit so high.

I dunno. I’ve just never been a fan.

I’ve never wished I had a solitaire over my halo. I hate how prongy solitaires look.

Since being here, my taste in rings has definitely broadened. I love my halo, but I actually wanted a solitaire with pave band. Not sure I’d ever go solitaire with plain band, though I love that look paired with a pave wedding band.

@IzzyBear:  I don’t have an engagement ring yet, but I do flip flop on wanting a solitaire and a fancier ring. I am not sure that a solitaire is really “me”, though. I’d like one for my right hand one day ๐Ÿ™‚

I used to want a halo or a semi-solitaire ring with side stones, but not a 3-stone… I was DEAD set on not having a 3-stone and thought they were so boring and not my style.

Then… I changed my mind. Abruptly. And now I only want a 3-stone!

I love my solitaire! Wouldn’t trade it for anything.

The only rings I would ever want for myself are either a round brilliant halo (which is what I have) or a round brilliant solitaire. Those have always been my favorite and I haven’t changed my mind. There are lots of other gorgeous rings, but these are just my style.

Fiance thought solitaires were too plain so he went for the halo. I love it and don’t have any ring envy ๐Ÿ™‚

I hav a solitaire, I love it! I love the the simplicity of it and how classic it is. It’s a 1ct stone, but it looks bigger because I have very tiny hands and my fiancé picked a stone that has a wider face and is shallower. I’m not sure of the correct terminology for it.

I’ve never been a huge fan of halos – they just seem like there’s too much going on for me. But my opinion could change!
