Originally, (and currently) fh and I were/are going to do square 6.5 x 6.5″ mailing size (perfetto) pocket folds… They are super expensive to mail ($2+) each to mail… I could easily take the design I have done for perfetto and use it on the signature size (5 x 7).. I am designing our invitations… I KNOW the 5 x 7 will be cheaper to mail… What do I do? Do I just stick with the original or do I change them to be cheaper to mail?

@hiroshymatetrastar: Oh man…this is rough…I am a whore for all things paper and I honest to god LOVE squares…I know it’s expensive, and that a sensible, frugal person would just change the size to a more economical one to mail….but I have NEVER advertised as either of those things..if it were me, I would stick with the square, pay the $$ and relish the fact that I sent, what I wanted and my guests, appreicated it.
An invitation is the FIRST impression a host/hostess gets to make in connection with their event, I loathe to admit it, but when I open some cheap peice of crap invitation, my enthusiasm for the wedding drops dramatically.

@hiroshymatetrastar: I did 5×7 just for this reason. If you have it in your budget, and you really love the invites, stick with the squares.

FreakonomicsExperiments.com Though yours would fall under “other” I think. Lol.

I would change them to be cheaper to mail. In the end, the invitation is a piece of paper. People are going to throw it away. With the money issues you’re having right now, it doesn’t make sense to spend a big chunk of change on paper, but that’s just my opinion.

I’m the opposite of Nona99, I cannot recall a single wedding invitation I’ve received in my whole life, except the most recent one which came while we have been planning our wedding. If I was excited for a couple who was getting married, getting a 5×7 over a square invite wouldn’t change my enthusiam whatsoever. I think after going through all this planning I would notice if the invite wasn’t good quality (paper quality, bad printing), but I wouldn’t care. So really if you have the budget and really love the square, do them, if not, don’t stress and go with the 5 x 7’s. It all up to what’s important to you two.

@hiroshymatetrastar: It sounded like on the thread you posted on not being able to take a honeymoon the other day that you are looking for some places to cut back. This might be one of them. If I were in your shoes I would do the smaller one.

The thing I see with switching the size is where I’m stuck.. I’ll wind up using more pallet inside so I’m not sure if the price difference will be that different in production… Ugh.. And we talked about the honeymoon thing.. I think we are gonna try to go to Williamsburg Virginia because we both like history…
