I am in love with purple as my first color and am thinking navy suits with purple paisley bow ties for the grooms. I am not sure if this will look good though because I am not able to find anyone else who has done it before. Do you guys think this will be a good look?

Try taking a purple paisley bow tie to mens wearhouse and decide for yourself. If you’re looking for something different- I saw silver suits which were very becoming with a purple theme.

It doesn’t need to match! I think your guys will be happier (and your pictures look better) with a more classic approach. Too matchy-matchy is a cardinal sin in the fashion world and I think it applies to weddings too, in spite of what the Wedding Industrial Complex says 🙂

I think gray suits would look really nice with purple dresses.

@chittychittybanebane: I love the purple tie! Where did you get it from?

I think lt. purple would go very well with navy and if you are having bow ties, maybe oyu want to consider navy blazers with tan chinos? Not sure how formal you are looking to dress the guys. My first thought was deep purple and lt. grey or charcoal.

I think a purple and navy would look great together. It also looks really good if you tie in a 3rd color like turquoise or bright green (like peacock colors).
I’m doing deep plum bridesmaids dresses, but since it’s a Fall wedding I’m going to tie in some richer earth tones like chocolate brown, ivory, champagne, taupe, etc…

- Wedding: August 2011 - St. Joseph's Parish, Seattle Tennis Club
We did grey suits for the gms, with madras purple ties, and light lavendar Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses.
ETA: I think that navy and purple would look great together 🙂

My girls will be in Alfred Angelo grape. My Fiance insisted on his guys wearing tuxes, rather than just suits, so they’ll be in black with purple vests and ties. My girls will wear black shoes and cardigans if it’s chilly, so it all ties in.

@seven12: Agree, and just what I was thinking.
OP as soon as I read navy with purple paisley, my mind went to peacock color scheme. I think that the navy and purple will look great together, and a teal accent would be lovely.
But, when looking for some inspiration, I came across this picture that I thought was a cool spin. Black suits with purple shirts that match the purple dresses. I think you could go silver, white, or black with the ties.
