I’ve had the hardest time deciding on a wedding band to match my engagement ring, and I keep flip-flopping on the rings I’ve purchased. My e-ring is a round halo with a plain shank from James Allen. My Fiance suggested that we get a new e-ring setting since I’ve had such a hard time finding a wedding band that I love. However, I love my e-ring—it’s exactly what I wanted so, for me, a new e-ring setting is not an option.
This is my e-ring from James Allen’s website: http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/pave/-18k-White-Gold-Pave-Set-Diamond-Engagement-Ring.html
Here’s a picture of it on my hand:
I first ordered two thin diamond bands from Zales (1/6 ct. each) to go below and above my e-ring. I originally thought this was the look I wanted, but I don’t plan to solder my rings and I hated the way it looked with just the wedding band (without the e-ring) because it was so thin.
So I returned the two bands to Zales and ordered this band from Jared’s: http://www.jared.com/product1%7C10451%7C10001%7C-1%7C530716909%7C19061%7C19061.20805.20837
I love all of the pave diamonds and loved the way the band looks on my hand when worn without the e-ring.
I picked up the new band the other day, and now I’m concerned that it overpowers my e-ring. The new band is a little bit thicker than my thin and dainty e-ring. Here are some pictures of the new band and the e-ring:
Again, I really love my e-ring and the new pave band separately, but I’m unsure as to how they look together. I’m not as concerned about them “matching” per se, but I just don’t want the wedding band to detract from the e-ring. Thoughts? Opinions? Advice? Other band options to explore?

I like your e-ring with the original bands from Zales. You don’t have to solder them…

i also like the 2 thin original bands.
it looks like an actual set.

Agree with PPs, the original bands from Zales look awesome with the ring.

The two thin bands where so nice and balanced.

I too like it b/c it frames the ring. BUT you can take the other ring back and talk to a good person at Jared because they should be able to help you with maybe a ring guard or find something that would be thick yet smaller stones to help compliment the ring. You want a band to compliment not over power the ring that your man spent so much time and money on getting.

oh my goodness the Zales rings are just perfect. the other one is just too… big. and unbalanced. and it doesn’t match

I agree with everyone else – I also love the 2 bands you had first. Or even one eternity band would look beautiful. I am just not a fan of the chunky pave band.

I just LOVE the way it looks with two bands! Why not get a 4mm tungsten ring to wear if you want to only wear a wedding band/set some days. I ordered one for me from ebay for like 5 dollars and plan on wearing it when I don’t want to wear my blingy set.

I also agree with everyone else. I LOVED the look of the two bands with your ring! It seems to fit perfectly and looks very elegant!

Thanks all! I just talked to Fiance and his suggestion was to repurchase the two thin bands for when I want to wear the whole thing as a set, and keep the thicker pave ring from Jared’s for when I just want to wear a band by itself. Admittedly, I love this idea but it also feels over-indulgent and excessive…
On another note, another reason why I returned the two thin bands to Zales is because after sending them out to be resized, they came back slightly misshapen (as in not entirely round). It wasn’t obvious when I had them on with my e-ring, but when you looked at the bands by themselves you could tell that they weren’t perfectly round. I know, it’s a small, minute detail but it really bothered me. When I took it back, they said it was unavoidable because my ring size is so small (I wear a 4.5).
I just looked on their website to see if I could order them in my size (without getting them resized down) but it looks like the smallest size they come in is a 6. Has anyone else had this issue? Is it true that they’ll just be misshapen after resizing?

I like the two thin bands with it 🙂

The look of the two thin bands compliments your e-ring the best. Whereas the other band takes away from the bling of the center stone.

I love the look of the two bands!

I like the two bands from Zales. My friend has that similar look and when she wants to just wear her wedding band, she wears both so it doesn’t look quite as thin and it looks good either way.
